It’s no secret that pink is one of my favorite colors. There is just something that screams “romance” to me when I see a pastel pink color pallet for weddings.

When Cassandra of Soiree Pines, sent me the mood board and gave me complete creative freedom for stationery, I knew two things. There will be pink. I will use handmade paper.

I love participating in styled shoots because it gives me the creative freedom to create stationery that I’m excited about. In turn, I can provide clients with inspiration. For this shoot I new I wanted to use a fine art envelope liner and handmade paper.

For the envelope liner, I chose to use use “Bouquet of Flowers with a Butterfly” by Willem van Leen, a Dutch painter who created the piece in 1763. The soft, whimsical flowers helped to create the romantic vibe that I was looking for and complemented the handmade paper nicely.

For styled shoots, I always try to use what I have on hand and available so I used a pink piece of 5×7 handmade paper. However, I was worried how the pink would look in contrast to flowers so I wanted a cream option as well. Only one problem… I only had white! To make it work, I made a pot of coffee, rolled up my sleeves… and put the paper in coffee to naturally die the paper a nice cream color. It worked brilliantly!

I chose to keep the design on the invitation simple so the paper and liner could shine and only included a small line art flower illustration that I repeated on the envelope. Because it was a styled shoot all the details were made up with the exception of the venue.

Highgrove Estate was the absolute perfect backdrop for the theme of the shoot. It was elegant, romantic, and spacious.

I chose not use a response card or other pieces of stationery for the shoot. As a stationer, I obviously want my clients to take advantage of response cards, and detail cards, all the embelishments that come in a wedding stationery suite.

But I also know that most of them time, photographers are handed the 5×7 invitations and an envelope on the wedding day and I wanted to show that with a stocked styling kit – you can still get a beautiful flatlay!
